The trees were planted to form an amazing atmospheric tunnel that was used as a location in HBO's popular television series Game of Thrones, which over resent years has resulted in the avenue becoming a very popular tourist attraction and is free to visit. Her name was Grace Lynd. More than 150 beech trees were planted along the road leading to the estate, designed to create an amazing entrance. The legend has it, the hedges is visited by a ghost named the Grey Lady, who walks the road and swishes across it from tree to tree. Many believe she's either the spirit of James Stuart's daughter, Cross Peggy" or one of the maids who died mysteriously, or a possibility a spirit from a nearby graveyard beneath the fields.
