Acrobatics have been part of the beach culture here since 1934, from the pionners of muscle beach Glenn Sunby, Jack La Lanne, Joe Gold, Paula Boelsems, Russ Saunders, Armond Tanny and many more this was there playground. After a brief closure in 1959 it re-open without the weightlifing platform most of the bodybuilders work out a couple of blocks from the beach called the Dungeon (Santa Monica Muscle Beach Gym). But for most of the acrobats the grass area was there playground of the pacific. The 1960's, and 1970's brought new talent elite circus acrobats, Gymnist, that perfected there skills on the beach. In 1975 the United States Sports Acrobatic Federation open there office in Santa Monica and started the trend in sports acrobatis In U.S. As the years pass the tradition continued and in 1989 Santa Monica city Rededicated Muscle Beach once again and the rich tradition pass to the 21 century.
