Date filmed: Saturday the 9th of November 2024 Videos filmed at: 17:56 | 18:04 Route: Marston Vale Line Lidlington (LID) Station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Filming location: Station Road, Lidlington (MK43 0SA) I knew I wanted a video of some retro, and now rare, halogen wigwags in operation in the dark, and where better to come than the Marston Vale Line when the service is in order? This video features a pair of lowerings at the completely original 2004-install level crossing at Lidlington, somewhere near the mid-way point on the Marston Vale Line and the place where the hourly services were booked to pass each other at the time. The crossing's relays controlling the lights have been known to become very faulty, but were perfectly behaving themselves on this visit. Thanks to a seasonal track-cleaning train running late, I managed to get two lowerings here quite close together, and without having to wait an hour. As you'll notice towards the end of the video, the bottom of the 'bunk' pair of lights (the top one for the side road) is incredibly bright when looked at from the pavement by the old station building!
