The protest march was organised by the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, with party leaders and supporters participating to highlight concerns raised by local residents. Congress leader Olencio Simoes said the march was intentionally held on the historic day when Mahatma Gandhi began the Salt March in 1930. Drawing inspiration from that movement, he said the protest aims to reflect growing public anger over alleged illegal land conversions, drugs and crime in the area. During the march, protesters symbolically removed mud that they alleged was dumped by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited and shifted it back to land belonging to the South Western Railway as a mark of protest.
