On the first warm day in March, we drag an old AK out of the vault for a bit of range time. This rifle is built from an original Russian AK47 Type III kit, with original barrel, and assembled on a Firing Line milled receiver. The original rifle was built in the Soviet Union in the 1950s, used by the Red Army, given to the PLO in the 1960s, and captured by the Israelis in the 1970s, who then demilled it and sold it as a parts kit on the USA market in the early 2000s. It has a lot of history and is fun to fire too. Thanks to its weight, it has no real recoil. Also, the bolt and other parts move incredibly smoothly and harken back to an earlier time of manufacturing.
