This is how to make a cheap, powerful and quick do it yourself wood cutting machine. By using a powerful brushless motor with sharp aluminium blades rotating at high speeds you can cut down quite large branches and bushes. However, I want to point out that this DIY is dangerous and should not be used improperly. Here's a list of all the components I used in the video: Motor: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/st... Lithium polymer battery: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/st... I began with gathering all the materials. You need a 2L bottle and lunch box made from plastic. A 25mm wooden dowel works as the handle, and some scrap aluminium will be strong enough as the cutting blades. You also need a motor, esc, servo tester, thumb throttle, battery, foam and a piece of wood. The first step of the build is to cut out the housing from the plastic bottle. With a matching sheet of circular plastic (from the lunch box), this will later be our motor mount.I made a washer from foam to increase the glue area and make a stronger bond between the housing and the piece of circular plastic. Before glueing everything together I drilled out the holes for the motor. I then used a good amount of hot glue to secure all the parts. The wooden dowel was cut in a 45° angle and attach on top of the bottle. I also reinforced the bond with some electrical tape. Your next step is to remove the dial from the servo tester. You also need to solder a jumper (see video). When that's done you can connect all the components and you should now have a running motor by pushing the thumb throttle. Glue the thumb throttle in place and secure the electrical components with zip ties. The blades was cut from some scrap aluminium and thoroughly sharped using a dremel. I used a small piece of wood (3mm thick) as the attachment for the blades. When using nuts and bolts you MUST use loctite! There will be some vibrations and we don't want the blades to come loose. Before going out cutting down stuff you should also hook up a shield of some sort. Use some steel wire and a sheet of plastic to shield your legs.
