Fly fishing wind knots. How to stop your tailing loops. Tailing or closed loops when fly fishing and casting are a common problem. The closed loop often causes overhand knots in the leader which are commonly referred to as "wind knots" as casters tend to use more power when they feel the wind blowing. Tailing loops are often cause by two things, applying too much power too early in the stroke and making too short of a casting stroke. In this video, Capt. Chris Myers explains and demonstrates what causes the wind knots in your fly fishing leader. Learn how to identify and correct this common fly casting fault.
