Jai Hind and Jai Jagannath.. 🙏🙏🙏 .......................................................................... Here video details:- Today I am going to explain - Types of smoke discharge in diesel generator SET :- Abnormal smoke discharge from a diesel generator set indicates incomplete combustion, engine overload, or mechanical failure. Under normal operating conditions, a well-maintained diesel generator should produce nearly colorless or light gray exhaust gas. The three main types of abnormal smoke discharge are: 1. Black Smoke (Carbon Particulates) Black smoke indicates that the fuel is not being properly atomized or is not completely burned, leading to an excess of carbon particles (soot). • Causes: Engine overload, clogged air filter (insufficient oxygen), poor quality fuel, incorrect fuel injection timing, or defective fuel injectors. • Correction: Reduce the engine load, clean/replace air filters, check fuel injectors, and adjust timing. 2. White Smoke (Unburned Fuel or Water Vapor) White smoke occurs when fuel passes through the cylinders without burning, or when water enters the combustion chamber. • Causes (Cold Start): Low cylinder temperature causes, which is normal for a few minutes upon startup. • Causes (System Fault): Water in the fuel, damaged cylinder head gasket (coolant leaking into the cylinder), or very low compression. • Correction: Check fuel for water, inspect cylinder head gasket, check compression, and ensure engine reaches operating temperature. 3. Blue/Grey Smoke (Burning Lubricating Oil) Blue smoke indicates that lubricating oil is entering the combustion chamber and burning along with the fuel. • Causes: Worn piston rings or cylinder liners, damaged valve stem seals, or excessive oil in the engine crankcase. • Correction: Check oil level, inspect for worn piston rings/valves, and check for oil leaking into the air intake. ..........................................................................
