Following a visit to my home town Shrewsbury in the UK I have made a series of vlogs on the town. In this vlog I explore the paranormal legacy of battles in Shrewsbury and a dark story related to its castle. This includes: Bloudy Jack was a retainer at the castle who was responsible for the rape and mass murder of virgins in the town. He is said to have kept trophies of his victims fingers and toes in his quarters. It is believed that his ghost can be seen dragging his final victim across the approach to the castle. He was caught and hung, drawn and quartered at the butter cross. The Battle of Shrewsbury between the Lancastrian King Henry IV and a rebel army led by Henry "Harry Hotspur" Percy from Northumberland. The battle, the first in which English archers fought each other on English soil, reaffirmed the effectiveness of the longbow and ended the Percy challenge to King Henry IV of England. Hotspurs body was displayed in the town's market square although a local legend was that it was at the butter cross. The civil war had a major impact on Shrewsbury and its prosperity. Originally a Royalist stronghold the town reputedly fell to the Parliamentarians following a betrayal by General Benbow. Prince Rupert had a long association with the town and is said to have stayed in what is now the Prince Rupert Hotel. He is said to have had a familiar poodle dog, named boy.
