This 1983 José Luis Romanillos ("La Maiolica", No. 611 of his "600 series") is one of the most inspiring and historically important guitars I have had the honor of reviewing. Built by the legendary Spanish master, this instrument captures both the elegance and power that made Romanillos one of the most influential luthiers of the 20th century. See the full listing here: https://www.guitarcollection.com/prod... The spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and the iconic Romanillos rosette all contribute to a voice that blends warmth, clarity, and sustain with a uniquely noble character. The trebles sing with a feminine sweetness, while the basses provide a deep masculine foundation, creating a balance that feels magical under the hands. This guitar, numbered 611 and built in 1983, also showcases Romanillos’ refined aesthetic: the sapwood center strip on the headstock, the detailed purfling along the back, and the overall elegance of proportions. Playability is exceptional thanks to a slim C-shaped neck, slightly narrower nut width, and low action. Condition is outstanding, with only light play marks and no cracks or repairs. For collectors and players alike, this Romanillos represents a rare chance to own an instrument from one of the most celebrated makers of our time. edit I misspoke in the video saying that this was his "611th guitar". This is not how Romanillos numbered his guitars. This is from his "600 series" of guitars. 📧 If you're interested in purchasing, please write to me at evan@guitarcollection.com or visit https://www.guitarcollection.com/ 00:00 Introduction 00:28 Introductory comments 01:51 The specs 04:15 The sound 11:36 Prelude no. 11 by Francisco Tárrega 13:40 Julia Florida by Agustín Barrios 14:31 Gran Vals by Francisco Tárrega 15:40 Playability 16:13 Registro by Antonio Lauro
