Fascia of Pectoral region (Pectoral Fascia & Clavipectoral Fascia)- An Animated Video

Pectoral fascia • It is the deep fascia covering the anterior aspect of the pectoralis major muscle. It is thin and anchored firmly to the muscle by numerous fasciculi. Clavipectoral fascia • The clavipectoral fascia is a strong fascial sheet deep to the clavicular head of the pectoralis major muscle, filling the space between the clavicle and the pectoralis minor muscle. • Extends from the clavicle above to the axillary fascia below.  Superiorly • It splits to enclose subclavius muscles and attaches to lips of subclavian groove of clavicle. • Posterior lamina blends with investing layer of deep cervical fascia and to axillary sheet.  Inferiorly • Splits to enclose pectoralis minor • Below this muscle, continues as suspensory ligament of axilla and blends with axillary fascia which helps to maintains the hallow of arm pit.  Medially • Attached to external intercostal membrane of upper two spaces.  Laterally • Attached to coracoids process and blends with coraco-clavicular ligament. Structures piercing clavipectoral fascia • Lateral pectoral nerve • Cephalic vein • Thoracoacromial vessels • Lymphatics passing from breast and pectoral region to apical group of axillary lymph nodes.
