After evaluating several options, Geotechnical Grouting was chosen as the preferred option to stabilize the portion of the structure that was experiencing settlement. Soil loss due to nearby tieback installations is believed to be the cause of a partially undermined foundation of a four-story commercial building in downtown Toronto. Permeation grouting was the least invasive option for the building owner and was well suited to the sandy soil beneath the footings. Challenges in this project: Low Headroom (clearance of 2.4m) Occupied building (businesses and tenants remained on-site for the duration of the project) Scope (86 holes with 235 cubic meters of grout pumped) Spoil containment and disposal in a confined space
