Train type: Bombardier/Alstom class 422 Train No.: 422 003 Year built: 2008 Leased to: DB Regio AG Number of: 84 (48 property VRR) Type in use since: 2008 Recorded on the line: S1 From: Dusseldorf Zoo ... to: Duisburg central station For the S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr, DB Regio ordered a total of 84 units of the class 422 (years of construction 2007-2010) from Bombardier/Alstom. The first trains were put into service in 2008. The trains reach a top speed of 140 km/h and have magnetic track brakes. The trains run solo or coupled with another 422 train. The class 422 trains are used in the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn network (Dusseldorf and Ruhr area). A total of 48 trains were sold to the transport association Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) for lines S1 and S4 and were redesigned (conversion between 2017 and 2019). The new owner makes these trains available to the operator (DB Regio).
