We will look into claims as they surface, and I will follow up each claim once they can be verified. Will the Rumors be true? Or will they be false? In today’s episode we will be discussing a rumor that has been around for a while, but recently has been gaining popularity. So if you’ve been on youtube searching for information about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, there’s a high chance you’ve already come across this Rumor. Some of these theories go back to when The Force Awakens was released. I just want to say that this isn’t my theory, and there are a few variations of this theory out there, but here’s the general gist. Emperor Palpatine can time travel and with this ability, he was able to search the future for a powerful force user. He discovers Rey and brings her back in time to a period before The Phantom Menace. Rey escapes Palpatine and cuts herself off from the force, just like we see Luke has done in The Last Jedi. She changes her last name to Skywalker to honor her former Jedi Master Luke. In this scenario, the last shot of the Skywalker saga reveals a pregnant Rey, watching the twin suns set on Tatooine. Some people are saying that Kylo would be the father of this child, while other people are saying Palpatine used the Force to create this life within her. -- So is this what’s meant to ‘melt our mind’? If Rey is Shmi Skywalker, and Kylo is the father, that means that they are Anakins biological parents, and it would explain how such a powerful force user was born. This rumor would also make Luke, Rey's grandchild, linking all the Skywalkers together even more. So what do I make of this rumor? I’d say it’s in the realm of possibilities. George Lucas liked to have plot points repeat the same beats and rhythms as the other plot points across the Star Wars trilogies. This theory would keep the Skywalker saga within a never ending loop. To me, this would bring no resolution to the Saga. There needs to be something at the end of all this to bring a satisfying end to the story, and no matter how well this is fleshed out, it would leave me with an unpleasant feeling. One thing to think about is why hasn’t Rey or Scmi appeared to any of the Skywalkers as a force ghost? In Revenge of the Sith, Rey could have appeared to Anakin and warned him about what would happen if he turned to the dark side and given him advice on how to protect himself and Padme, plus his two unborn children Luke and Leia. Rey could potentially have saved millions of lives in the Star Wars galaxy just by warning and guiding Anakin through this dark time in his life. Scmi saw Anakin moments before she passed away. If she was Rey, I’m sure she would have given him a warning not to slaughter the camp of Tusken Raiders that had been keeping her captive. These acts made it easier for Anakin to turn to the dark side, and I’m sure Rey would have warned him about this if she was Scmi. We could spend more time looking into this rumor, but at the end of the day, I wanted to cover it, and come back to it later after we all know the real ending to The Rise of Skywalker. For now it’s just an interesting rumor.
