#Aliceinwonderland #Llandudno #Northwales Join Anna & Alf in todays video as they spend time in LLANDUDNO NORTH WALES, UK On THE WEST SHORE BEACH . LLANDUDNO is a coastal town in NORTH WALES known as THE QUEEN OF THE WELSH RESORTS and it has a 19th century grade 11 listed pier. LLANDUDNO developed from STONE AGE, BRONZE AGE and IRON AGE SETTLEMENTS over many hundreds of years in the slopes of THE GREAT ORME. THE WEST SHORE BEACH area of LLANDUDNO is famous for where LEWIS CARROLL got inspired to write the children's classic book ALICE IN WONDERLAND. This book has always had a curious connection with NORTH WALES and the WELSH CONNECTION runs deep, all the way back to 1862 when 8yr old ALICE LIDDELL ( THE REAL ALICE IN WONDERLAND ) spent the first of many summer holidays in LLANDUDNO. Her holiday home called PENMORFA was built on LANDUDNOs WEST SHORE BEACH for the family. THE LIDDELL FAMILY were close friends with the writer LEWIS CARROLL and its long been speculated that CARROLL visited THE LIDDELLS at their holiday home they built there, and was inspired by ALICE and her adventures in LANDUDNO and it is well known that on this WEST SHORE, DURING HAPPY RAMBLES WITH ALICE LIDDELL and her family, LEWIS CARROLL was inspired to write the literary treasure called ALICE IN WONDERLAND ALICE'S HOLIDAY HOME CALLED PENMORFA later was added to over the years and then became THE GOGARTH ABBEY HOTEL and then in 2008 the building sadly was demolished to make way for a block of luxury flats. In this Welsh History Lesson, Anna tells the story of how the ALICE IN WONDERLAND story came into being and shows you the beach area where ALICE LIDDELL and her family had their summer holidays.
