Except for Viram Jusani's performance of THE Tabla on Led Zep 1 and Sandy Denny's duet with Robert Plant on The Battle for Evermore, Led Zeppelin did not allow outside musicians to participate in their studio recordings. While recording at Headley Grange on the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio, the band initiated an impromptu jam session that resulted in the song "Rock and Roll," which featured a guest performance by Ian Stewart, the original Rolling Stones' pianist and co-founder. Stewart was most likely helping with the mobile studio at the time. The song Boogie with Stu was also recorded at this time with Ian Stewart on piano and later released on the album Physical Graffiti – Ian Stewart remains one of the few musicians outside the band ever to feature on a Led Zeppelin recording
