Inspired by the methodology and musical compositions of American Avant-Garde composer and instrument-builder Harry Partch, the Society chose his name as both a fitting moniker and homage. Melding this inspiration to a common affinity for Kosmische Musik, Musique Concrète and experimental pioneers of the First Psychedelic Era, the Harry Partch Appreciation Society seeks to deconstruct previous conventions and limitations of sonic composition and craft and their intersection with the aesthetic. All instruments are original designs and are hand-assembled by Society members. These instruments are constructed with the materials "on-hand;" objects used in construction are found, retrofitted or reclaimed pieces while electrical components are often, but not always, new and repurposed. This collection spans the entirety of the known Harry Partch Appreciation Society recorded catalog. Their starry-eyed pursuit, thus far, of the Ultimate Inevitable is documented here. Many hands and many hours wove these sonic-tapestries together. The ever-shifting movements within the Society afforded a rich, wide spectrum of forms, modes and tones. Like ancient invocations offered up by forgotten civilizations, the Society generated aural signals with the intent of reaching Beyond. The compositions included within this anthology are proof positive of that; prepare to make contact.
