Steve gives us a breakdown of this amazing 1970 Buick GS455 Skylark Convertible that will be auctioned off by Richmond Auctions Oct 24-25. You can register at bid.richmondauctions.com. Here is a description of this lot: Another rare example of GM muscle for 1970 is this stunning Buick GS 455 Stage 1 Convertible. With its 360 horsepower 455 cubic-inch V8 making over 500 foot pounds of tire-smoking torque, these cars were sleepers. Despite their exterior, Buick engineers packed the Stage 1 455 with 10.5:1 compression, high-lift camshaft, four-barrel carburetor, and other goodies. This example is even more rare and desirable with its Muncie four-speed manual transmission, but it's also packing a heavy-duty suspension with front and rear Firm Ride springs, Posi traction rear end, four-wheel disc brakes. It's even a rarer example of the GS Stage 1 with its factory air conditioning. Well documented with provenance from new, fully restored, and in excellent overall condition with great documentation, this is one extremely rare Buick. Along with the Stage 1 455, four-speed transmission, and air conditioning, other options include power disc brakes, power steering, AM/FM radio with rear speaker and stereo tape player, power windows, tilt steering column, front power seat with four-way adjuster, alloy wheels with trim rings, G60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, and several other creature comforts. When sold new, this GS went for the hefty sum of $4,457.13 in April of 1970. Great lineage showing prior owners going back for decades. The Green paint is eye-catching, and the contrasting black interior and top give a mature, distinguished look. The odometer was reset at the time of restoration, now showing approximately 9,000 miles. One of the most highly optioned GS Stage 1 Convertibles in existence.
