Just arrived at The Garage! 1934 Austin 7 ‘65’ Sports - most authentic we've seen Following in the footsteps of the EA series Ulster model, the '65' EB series was designed more as a sports touring car rather than its competition orientated predecessor. This new model, with its distinctive rounded tail, featured aluminium bodywork and several components from the earlier EA Series were used. Priced at a very competitive £148 new, the '65' featured a tuned engine which developed 23bhp - almost twice the power output of the standard Seven model. Now a rare model, the '65' was only produced from mid-1933 to mid-1934 when it was replaced by the Nippy which was visually extremely similar, but now with steel bodywork. This example is extremely correct and was expertly restored in the early 1990s by the previous owner. During the past few years the engine has been rebuilt with a new crank, original type Austin 7 rods and slipper pistons. A Paul Bonewell ‘fast road’ camshaft was also fitted. The gearbox is the correct sports type and the car was featured in the Rinsey Mills publication ‘Original Austin 7’. There are photographs available showing the restoration in progress. Ready to enjoy and ideal for VSCC Events and the numerous Austin 7 rallies. You would be hard pressed to find a more correct example of this model anywhere.
