🎥 3D LiDAR-based localization for autonomous delivery robots | Exwayz × #HiveRobotics In this video, we present a case study developed in collaboration with #HiveRobotics, a company designing autonomous delivery robots operating in highly diverse outdoor environments — from dense urban areas to vacation resorts and private sites. These deployments pose significant localization challenges: Environments where satellite-based positioning may be degraded or unavailable, due to tall buildings, dense vegetation, or narrow paths Small ground robots operating close to the surface, with limited sensor elevation Uneven and non-standard terrains, increasing perception and motion complexity To address these constraints, Hive Robotics relies on Exwayz’s map-based localization approach, combining high-accuracy 3D LiDAR mapping with real-time, embedded localization running fully onboard the robot. By leveraging stable 3D geometric features of the environment, this solution provides robust and precise positioning, enabling reliable autonomous navigation in complex outdoor conditions. The video shows the robot’s real-time 3D LiDAR localization overlaid on the map, highlighting stable positioning in real operating conditions.
