Stop Exposing Ports — Do This Instead (Reverse Proxy + SSL) If you’re self-hosting more than one service and still using IP addresses + random ports, this video shows the clean way to fix it. In this tutorial, I set up Nginx Proxy Manager as a reverse proxy so you can route services by domain name and manage HTTPS/SSL centrally. I use Flame as a lightweight demo service (but this works the same for any web app). 🎉 Also — thank you for 1,000 subscribers. I really appreciate everyone who’s supported the channel, and I’m excited to keep putting out more practical self-hosting builds. ✅ Commands used in this video Install Docker (official script) curl -fsSL https://get.docker.com | sudo sh Allow Docker without sudo (refresh group) sudo usermod -aG docker $USER newgrp docker Confirm Docker docker --version 🔥 Demo service (Flame) docker run -d \ --name flame \ -p 3000:5005 \ -v flame-data:/app/data \ pawelmalak/flame Check containers: docker ps 🧩 Nginx Proxy Manager (docker-compose.yml) Create a docker-compose.yml file with: version: "3" services: nginx-proxy-manager: image: jc21/nginx-proxy-manager:latest container_name: nginx-proxy-manager restart: unless-stopped ports: "80:80" "81:81" "443:443" volumes: ./data:/data ./letsencrypt:/etc/letsencrypt If this helped you, feel free to like the video and subscribe!
