These were all the steps I took to get to the transfer case lever, and remove it because of the infamous red fulcrum ball degredation. This was done on a 1998 montero, I think the steps are going to be similar among other years, I am not sure, I could be wrong. This is just to help someone who might be interested in doing this to give an idea on what to expect. I am not a professional. Main thing to remember is the different screws and where it goes to put everything back. Also the last part of the video is crucial to put the lever back or else it wont go in (because it happened to me) Important thing is, dont take off the bolts that is on the inside or closer to the lever base, but take off the ones that are closer to the outside edge, those bolts are holding the lever to the transfer case. Definetely recommend changing the speed of the video to 1.25 or above to save some time.
