Ahmed Capsular Tension Segment Placement, Capsular Tension Ring for Zonular Dehiscence in Cataract

Date: 31Mar2021 Surgeon: Dr. Bryant Giles, DO (PGY4) & William Dennis, MD (PGY3) Cataract Case #259 Lens: Johnson & Johnson/Tecnis ZCT150 (monofocal, toric lens for distance) This patient had a previous vitrectomy, which introduces a lot of variables, once such being the possibility of weaker zonules. In this video, we see damage to the weak zonules causing a 3 clock hour zonular dehiscence. After successful lens removal, a capsular tension ring was placed. The bag was intact but falling posterior. A sutured Ahmed capsular tension segment (https://www.beye.com/product/ahmed-ca...) was then placed successfully, which allowed safe placement of a toric monofocal lens.
