American Percussion's " Freedrum"

This is an unusual percussion instrument sound sculpture that I created. The drum is on a crank so when you turn it, the ping pong balls inside the drum, bounce through the wood comb hitting the sides of the drum, the metal washboards and the drum head on the other side of the drum. The first section I am using some new beaters I call wackies that have two rubber balls joined by a dowel and put through two holes in the orange tube. They can be played with out hitting anything because the rubber balls hit the tube or you can hit the drum head to get a bunch of different sounds which I am doing in the first section. The second section is the freedrum section that has this willy nilly sound and the third section I am back using the wackies on the spring and the bells. www.americanpercussion.com all rights reserved.
