This ornamental rhubarb is a very striking garden plant for your garden. The huge palmate leaves of this variety start off crimson/purple and change to dark green with the amazing plum under sides. Tall flowers spikes up to 6ft (1.8m) with pink-crimson star shaped flowers will emerge from the centre of the plant later in the summer. They like sun to part shade in a fertile humus rich loam soil preferably moist. They look great near water but not with their feet in the water, that is just too wet for them. Mulch them in spring with compost or well rotted manure as they are a hungry plant. Cut back old flower stems and leaves in autumn as they die back. Divide the plants in spring or try sowing seeds if you are patient. Please Note this plant is poisonous.
