Louis Kronberg was born and raised in Boston but traveled extensively throughout Europe for intensive and formal artistic training. Throughout his artistic exploration his styles changes drastically. When he first started at the formal academies his style was dark and his subject matters were more serious. As he studied under some of the best painters in the world and played with different mediums, Kronberg fell in love with pastel on paper as well as the subject matter of ballet dancers and flamenco dancers. Part of this love stemmed from his teacher Degas who is the most well reknowned ballet dancer painter of all time.
