2025-10-21 Potensic Atom SE to 1,172.2 Feet This was just an altitude test and has little to do with the neighborhood, although one can garner some great views from these heights. It was taken just after sunset. I landed, went inside, turned around, and it was totally dark outside. The video is the drone footage but the altimeter in the lower right corner is from my screen-recording of the app viewer on my phone. I could have enabled telemetry in the video, but that would have covered too much of the content, so I just chose to sync up the two video sources and crop the screengrab down to just the altimeter. The drone was directly above me, its entire flight, and the live video feed became so terrible that it rendered fine controls impossible. I had to guess that a push here, a pull there, a scroll here...would have the effect I wanted, because it would be a few seconds until the feed updated on my phone. This could have been due to me asking a heck of a lot from my phone, as I was also screen-recording as I mentioned above. Perhaps I'll try again without the screen-recording and with telemetry on, just to see if the control is better. I'd estimate it was somewhere around 1,000 feet that the feed started getting cranky. Aside from these straight-up and straight-down altitude tests, further lateral flights will be much lower, likely sub-400 feet. I don't want to wrestle with it being high up AND far away horizontally simultaneously. As always, play with the player's gear menu to ensure you're seeing the 4K feed. Speed it up, slow it down. Have at it.
