Beth Torina enters her 15th season as the head coach of LSU softball with a roster that features 11 new players, the most newcomers in program history. Five are coming from the transfer portal and six from the incoming high school class. Within the transfer portal class, three are coming from SEC programs. 2026 Transfer Class Paytn Monticelli – Pitcher (Oklahoma) Ally Hutchins – Third Base (Kentucky) Char Lorenz – Louisville (Utility) Cece Cellura – Pitcher (San Diego State) Kylee Edwards – Infielder (Mississippi State) “There’s no substitute for experience, and we’re lucky LSU supported us in this quest to go out and add some of these transfers to our roster. We thought what we did in the offseason was a home run,” Torina said. “We thought our portal class was as good as anybody’s, but for what we needed right here at LSU, it was a home run. The roster was designed to add right-handers and add power offense, so we feel like we got that,” Torina added. The Tigers return 12 players from a year ago, seven of whom are starters, most notably sophomore pitcher Jayden Heavener and reigning SEC Freshman of the Year Tori Edwards. LSU opens its season at home in the Tiger Classic, which features North Carolina State, Illinois, Lamar, and Nevada. The Tigers’ first game of the year is against NC State on Thursday, February 5, at Tiger Park, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. CT.
