About the Conference The 17th GW China Conference on China’s Economic Development and U.S.–China Economic Relations was hosted in Hong Kong for the first time on December 11, 2025. The conference theme, Global Impacts on the U.S.–China Economic Relationship, reflected the growing importance of China–U.S. economic interactions in a changing global environment. The program brought together leading scholars from the United States, China, and other countries to present research on a broad range of economic issues, including trade, macroeconomics, finance, and development. The conference was co-organized by GW’s Institute for International Economic Policy (IIEP), HKU’s Asia Global Institute (AGI), and HKU’s Centre on Contemporary China and the World. The official conference airline was United Airlines.
