RKL have been one of the top-requested bands lately, and I was eager to get to this one from their album "Riches To Rags" due to these hilarious names and titles. I even had a request for "Betrayed" from Brian Robinson (A Wilhelm Scream), and after hearing THAT guy play, I knew I was in for a ride. The shades of thrash metal in their sound really surprised me, and were reminiscent of early records from Megadeth or Testament. Bassist Joe Raposo kicked off the track with a blazing bass intro, and didn’t let up until the song's last note. I discuss his really tricky groove phrasings, his bass tone, how the bass intro reprised later in the song and became a “solo” figure, the song’s jerky chord accents, and how the bass completely carries the song in a "lead" way.
