Constructing a High Tunnel for Growing Organic Vegetables in Minnesota

Moses Momanyi and his wife Lonah Onyancha (Producers from Kenya) have been working with Josh Bork, District Conservationist with the NRCS, over the past several years to construct high tunnels and grow cover crops on their 20-acre certified organic farm. Today, Matt Barthelemy organized the Farm Buds volunteers to come out to Moses and Lonah's Dawn 2 Dusk Farm to help construct a new high tunnel and to plant organic vegetables. To help control weeds and insects, they rotate areas on the farm where the vegetables are grown. They also grow cover crops in those rested areas to help improve the soil health.
