This is the morning commute from Oakland-Piedmont to Silicon Valley. Except the opening and closing seconds, I evenly time-lapsed the footage at 32x speed, to better indicate the congestion zones. We started at a quarter past seven o'clock, merging onto I-580E from Oakland Avenue--in Oakland's Adams Point neighborhood and blocks from the Piedmont border. One hour and twenty-minutes later, we exited at North First Street in San Jose. This commute typically takes an hour and thirty minutes, without traveling in the carpool lane. Traffic seemed typical on this mid-September morning. There were no stalled vehicle- or accident-related backups. The heaviest congestion usually lies from the I-238/I-880S interchange to central Fremont.
