The problem? A logistics system that excludes. At ICBF 2025, Bouwer van Niekerk explains how his company STROOM uses chaos theory and human-centric design to introduce electric vehicles (e.g. cargo bikes) into South Africa country in which 11.8 million township residents have limited access to delivery services, many of whom don't have driving licences. Meanwhile, there is a lack of infrastructure, traditional electric vehicles are too expensive and 62% of 15-24 year-olds are unemployed.
