The webinar is part of an initiative of the UICC, in collaboration with the US NCI, to examine prognostic factors, outcomes, and elements that may influence them in order to improve global cancer control. The webinar covers: The background of the initiative, including the role of prognosis and prognostic factors in cancer control. Results from the key informant interviews conducted to explore the perceptions surrounding the collection and application of prognostic factors and clinical outcomes data to understand their utility, function, and standardisation in cancer control settings. Results from a global cancer registry survey conducted to examine which prognostic factors and outcomes currently are and should be recorded by population-based cancer registries to improve global cancer control. Results from a stakeholder survey conducted to map which prognostic factors and outcomes are important for various stakeholder groups including clinicians, scientists, and patient group representatives. This will be complemented by findings from focus group discussions which were organised with various stakeholder representatives across five different disease sites. The progress in cancer registration in the context of the IARC-led Global Initiative for Cancer Registries (GICR). The importance of a robust data for cancer control in the context of advances in computational methods, what data is needed and how to collect it and manage it to improve cancer control. The power of prediction in general, followed by a discussion on the importance of prediction for decision-making in cancer control and next steps.
