It’s time for Orangetheory’s 500 meter benchmark row! Let’s get ready! Rowing is the most physically demanding activity. It is a total body workout. And for 500 meters, you will need to exert every major muscle group in an all out sprints. My time last November on the 500 meter row was 1 minute and 31 seconds. Expect to just go all out. 500 meters is about 3 10ths of a mile. 500 meters in 1:31 is about 12.4 miles per hour. I have to admit it’s really hard to keep that up for that much time. On the other hand, it’s only about 1 ½ to 2 minutes. Keep that in mind. It’ll be over soon! Now rowing is an incredible workout. If it’s done properly, you are engaging your legs, core, and arms. Recently I watched a video demonstrating proper rowing technique so I headed to OT to record my row form and now I’m going to compare my form with this professional.
