In this video, I used my old korg d1600 to control faders and panning within Mixbus. This was my first digital recorder after tascam portastudio cassette tape. I eventually put it in "mothball" after going full computer based recording. In this video, I set Mixbus up for General Midi controller. Then you hover over the channel fader you want to control. Hold down control on your keyboard and at same time hold center scroll wheel button down. This locks the channel fader in learning mode. After the dialog window confirms to start controller, let go of control on computer. Then move corresponding fader or pan pot on the D1600. Now verify the Mixbus learned the command. The same goes for arming tracks. Also in the midi controller setup window, be sure to click generic midi controller. Leave it at factory default. Don't try to assign a midi controller of another brand. They have their own midi map. You want Mixbus to learn the D1600 midi note map and not any pre sets installed in Mixbus. You can also assign the D1600 track arm buttons to turn on and un arm Mixbus record buttons. This will increase workflow and also save you some cash integrating older first generation audio workstation into computer software program. I'll post more video if I can get Mixbus to slave to the Korg D1600 with other functions. But for now? That $1600 digital recorder sitting around collecting dust? Can become a serious piece of hybrid material in your setup!!!
