Welcome to Gods and Heroes of Ancient Greece, where MyLinda Butterworth of Totally Stories interprets the written word for your listening pleasure. Today we continue with 'The Tales of Troy' with the story of 'The Argives'. Paris, as an emissary to Sparta, had been guilty of a grave breach of the laws governing a guest and his host and the rights of peoples. His action bore instant fruit. A line of kings, powerful among the heroes of Greece, was roused to raging fury, brothers Menelaus and Agamemnon. Agamemnon reminded his brother of the oath taken by Helen's former suitors. So the two kings sent out to the many rulers in Greece to remind them of their oath to help defend Helen and they came with many ships. The names too many to list here came to fight against Troy. The last piece of the puzzle was to find Achilles who Calchas, a soothsayer said they needed in order to win this war.
