The first-ever interparliamentary meeting on EU security and defence marks a key step in strengthening parliamentary dialogue on one of the most pressing and strategic challenges facing the European Union today: the future of European defence. The meeting on “The Future of European Defence” will bring together members of the European Parliament, representatives of national parliaments, and the Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada for a structured and timely exchange on how to shape a common vision for Europe's security and defence architecture at a pivotal moment for European security. This unprecedented gathering is a significant step in strengthening the European Union’s democratic oversight of security and defence as well as a show of solidarity with Ukraine. The two-day event will include four panels on: •   Preserving peace through strength: the Roadmap to Readiness 2030 and the future of Europe's defence industry •   Preparing for the new era of warfare: transformation and the future of defence • A stronger European Pillar for NATO • Europe's defence at a turning point.
