Pam Ward and Jaha Zainabu honed their craft at The World Stage in Leimert Park in the 1990s. Now, as noted L.A. poets, they have many stories and insights to share. Pam Ward’s poetry collection, "Between Good Men & No Man at All," was released in 2024 by World Stage Press. She has authored two novels, "Want Some Get Some" and "Bad Girls Burn Slow." In 2025, the L.A. Cultural Affairs Dept. recognized her as a Cultural Trailblazer. In 2024, she participated in the first literary Olympics in Paris. She has conducted writing workshops for Black Women for Wellness and Art Center College of Design. She runs her own community press, Short Dress Press. Jaha Zainabu released her third collection, “365.2013: A Poem A Day Series” in 2017. An acclaimed poet and visual artist, she has performed throughout the U.S. As the Artist-In-Residence for WomanPreach! Inc., she provides poems, stories, and insights for its programming events. She is currently a Creative Writing Instructor for the Community Literature Initiative in L.A.
