This tutorial explains how to conduct slope stability analysis using SLIDE 2 of Rocscience. You will learn how to draw the slope geometry and assign engineering properties to different rock/soil layers. It also shows how to draw a groundwater table and assign the water table to different rock layers. Using this software, you can select different methods of LEM (Limit Equilibrium Method) analysis, including the Bishop Simplified method and Morgenstern-Price method. The software offers different ways to search for the critical failure plane (i.e., the failure plane with the lowest safety factor); additionally, you can search for the failure planes with the range of a factor of safety using the auto grid option.
