Thyroid Cancer (Papillary, Follicular, Medullary & Anaplastic) | Symptoms, Diagnosis, Staging, Treatment Thyroid cancer (thyroid carcinoma) is cancer of the thyroid gland, an endocrine gland involved in producing thyroid hormones such as T3 and T4. Thyroid cancer accounts for approximately 1% of all cancers, and several factors increase the risk of thyroid cancer including head and neck radiation therapy, family history, and female biological sex. There are 4 main types of thyroid cancer, including Papillary, Follicular, Medullary & Anaplastic carcinoma, each having different ages of onset, risk factors and signs and symptoms.
