Meet ULVH Veterinarians Dr. Nicole Hein

Get to know ULVH Veterinarian Dr. Nicole Hein a little better. She graduated from Michigan State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2022. While at MSU, she researched equine laminitis factors, West Nile Virus, and environmental science epigenetic outcomes on wildlife. She has worked in veterinary medicine since 2012, treating kangaroos, 3 oz bunnies, 2000 lb draft horses, and every creature in between. She is a member of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association and American Veterinary Medical Association and is Fear Free Certified. Dr. Hein is thrilled to join the Union Lake team and is dedicated to working with you to advocate for your pet’s best quality of life. Professional interests include soft tissue surgery, behavior medicine, wound/pain management, rehabilitation, and neurology. She is passionate about animal welfare and extending veterinary education/access to underserved communities. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Hein enjoys riding horses, traveling, gardening, and hiking with her husband and their very opinionated coonhound/cattle dog, Luna.
