On Monday, 23 February 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 uganda time , Members of the European Parliament will convene in Brussels (Room SPAAK 4B1) for a high-level exchange of views on the political situation in Uganda following the January 2026 general elections. The session will formally adopt the agenda, approve previous meeting minutes (14 January 2026 – PV PE772.417v01-00), and proceed to the Chair’s announcements before turning to the central and most anticipated agenda item: a focused discussion on the conduct of Uganda’s 2026 elections and the unfolding post-electoral environment. Appearing via remote connection, Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), leader of Uganda’s main opposition party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), is expected to present his perspective directly to EU lawmakers. His address comes amid intense international attention surrounding reports of election irregularities, security deployments, and political tensions inside Uganda. Joining the discussion will be Dr. Sarah Bireete, Chairperson of the Global Network of Domestic Election Monitors (GNDEM) and Executive Director of the Centre for Constitutional Governance (CCG), who will provide insight into election monitoring assessments and civic accountability concerns. Also participating is Mr. Jonas Jonsson, Head of Division EEAS Africa.5 (Horn of Africa, East Africa), offering the European External Action Service’s regional and diplomatic perspective. This exchange places Uganda’s post-election trajectory under direct European parliamentary scrutiny, signaling that developments in Kampala are now firmly on the international agenda. The question many are asking: Will this session reshape EU-Uganda relations — or intensify diplomatic pressure moving forward? #BobiWine #UgandaElections2026 #EUParliament #BrusselsSession #UgandaPolitics #DemocracyInAfrica #PostElectionCrisis #NUP #HumanRights #GlobalScrutiny #JBMuwonge #Bobiwine #JBMuwongetalkshow #uganda
