The infamous brawl between the Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators on March 5, 2004. The game aired on Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia with Jim Jackson, Gary Dornhoefer and Steve Coates on commentary. Matt Yallof was live from the Flyers' hallway to give updates. The bad blood started in the previous year's playoffs but re-ignited the week before when Martin Havlat high-sticked Mark Recchi, leaving Havlat with a match penalty and a suspension. The game ended up with 419 penalty minutes, a new NHL record. This clip starts with 5:30 remaining in the third period with the Flyers leading 5-2. The brawl begins with 1:45 remaining in the period after Philadelphia's Donald Brashear and Ottawa's Rob Ray start jawing and end up fighting at the end of the play. The brawl explodes as Brashear and Ray are lead to their penalty boxes, leaving all 12 players, including goalies, to grab a partner. After the next faceoff, Flyers winger Radovan Somik squares off with Ottawa tough guy Chris Neil and Mattias Timander & Zdeno Chara get paired off. Michal Handzus and Mike Fisher fight after the next faceoff. Play continued, with fans booing that there were no more fights, but after a check, Mark Recchi fought Bryan Smolinski, while John LeClair paired off with Wade Redden. The Flyers won 5-3, after Peter Bondra scored a late goal. 0:00 Third Period 6:07 Brashear/Ray talking 6:37 Brashear vs Ray 7:14 Brawl Begins 9:54 Replay 15:45 Somik vs Neil 19:33 Handzus vs Fisher 22:09 Recchi vs Smolinski 23:48 Replays 27:07 Play resumes 28:00 Bondra goal
