arsenal of las vegas brings in these saigas in some secret condition and puts some stuff on them ,repaints some of it and ships it out the door.nothing glamorous or magical. it is generally agreed that this rifle is your best bet for a 100 series type of ak.this is not to mean that an sgl is an ideal copy or that it is the "gold standard" equivalent to a colt 6920.arsenal work is not considered to be the best in the country nor is a sgl a pure factory example of a military rifle like colts semi automatic m4.as an alternative there is the saiga imported with the military style front end and have a reputable ak builder hook it up..this is the route i would probably go for a 103 or 74m clone.maybe try to save the original paint too.... the sgl series is a quality rifle that looks ok for a high price.it's strange that it's a Russian gun converted by an American arm of the Bulgarian arms company.it's a weird mongrel.some of them supposedly have bulgarian front sight blocks and gas blocks on them.or akm rear sight blocks.i've even heard of chinese sights being on them.....they make you squint more.hahahaha. to add to the fucked upness of this strange bird you can get them with colored plastic furniture.green tan and plum.this makes some people go bananas because they think only ak74s can have plum on them.if of course,if the russians made a 7.62 gun in the 80s that was in plum it would be the greatest and it would be ok.these stocks are u.s versions of the old style 74 plastic rather than the newer 100 series folding in line stocks also available in the sgl line which are russian made. so what about shooting a gun like this?the 74 brake makes the 7.62 really tame.but it feels more front heavy than a akm or a milled ak to me.not enough to make it unlikeable but enough to make me like it less.the arsenal trigger is good because of it's distinct break but it defiantly is not like other aks semi auto triggers or the g2.so it's not that authentic ak feeling trigger. i want to give a little ink to rs products aim point mount.it's nice and low and light and keeps the guns stock appearance.best deal around.it did make a mark on the top cover by using it but i'm not that care full because i'm not a pussy with my stuff. i've broken an arsenal trigger and been around the block with them on some quality issues.it is obvious that bottom line is everything to them and thats true with the work and with how much they will do for you to correct a mistake.hopefully they will continue to make dealing with them worthwhile and continue to bring in stuff that wasn't here before.
