SHISH TAWOOK RECIPE! Shish is a turkish word meaning skewer & tawook also spelt taouk means chicken. Middle Eastern Spiced Chicken cooked over Charcoal. If you try one recipe from my page, try this one! It's that good👌 I served my SHISH tawook with a Middle Eastern Mezza Platter; Garlic Sauce, Lebanese Bread, Pickless, Sliced Onions Spiced with Sumac, Tomatoes & Cucumber. Let me know if you try it👍 ----------------------------------------------------- The Products I Used in this Video BBQ - @nomadgrills CHARCOAL - @olivepipco KNIFE - @chef_supply_co ----------------------------------------------------- Shish Tawook - INGREDIENTS 1kg boneless, skinless chicken thighs. Shish Tawook - MARINADE 1/2 cup plain yoghurt 1/2 Lemon squeezed lemon juice 1/4 cup olive oil 1 tablespoons tomato paste 2 Garlic Cloves, Grated or Crushed 1 tablespoon paprika 1 tablespoon Baharat (Arabic 7 Spice) 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 teaspoon dried oregano 2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1 teaspoon ground cardamom Optional is 1 teaspoon ground, Corriander! Whilst Optional, if you like Corriander, definitely add it in. It softens the cumin flavour a touch and is really nice. Salt. This is not salty. You could add 3 teaspoons if you 'need' your salt. Shish Tawook - METHOD 1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together ALL marinade ingredients until smooth. 2. Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and toss to coat them evenly with the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight. 3. Preheat a bbq grill or cast iron ridged griddle pan to medium-high heat. 180c if you are using the oven. 4. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers. 5. Grill the skewers and flip every couple of minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temp of 165f. By constantly flipping the chicken, you will achieve an even char, whilst keeping the chicken juicy. 6. Remove the skewers from the grill. Use caution when taking the chicken shish tawook off the skewers. It's hot!! MY TOP TIPS FOR GRILLING 🔸️ Try & avoid grilling the chicken kebabs on Grill grates. The Yoghurt based marinade has a tendency to stick. To avoid sticking, leave each side for a few minutes before turning. 🔸️ Charcoal too HOT 🔥 After dumping the lit charcoal in your bbq, wait 5 mins before starting to grill your chicken skewers. Keep your vents closed to dampen the heat. *You need to use judgement here as it will depend on the charcoal you are using. #shishtawook #shishtaouk #chickenshish #middleeasternfood #middleeasterncuisine
