UCapture is proud to have offset 1000 Tons of CO2e at the Wolf Creek Landfill in Dry Branch, Georgia. This environmental project reduces greenhouse gas emissions by capturing methane that’s created by waste as it decomposes. Methane’s is over 20 times more powerful as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide; meaning this byproduct of your trash has a serious impact on global warming! As a result of UCapture’s project, methane is collected from the waste, and directed to a separate on-site treatment facility where the gas is used to generate electricity. Wolf Creek is a 2,800 kilowatt landfill gas-to-energy facility which provides an environmental benefit equal to removing 23,000 cars from the road. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has endorsed landfill gas as an environmentally-friendly energy resource that reduces our reliance on fossil fuels, like coal and oil. By making use of waste gas at landfills, UCapture helps reduce the carbon footprint of the entire product life cycle, including this final stage.
