Climbing The Great Red Book

A climb of "The Great Red Book" 5.8 in Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas, NV. This climb is located in the Calico Hills area and is approached from the second pullout on the Red Rocks Scenic Drive. To get to the base, follow the trail to the Black Corridor area, pass through the corridor, and continue following a trail east/southeast to the base of the formation. The climb is fun and involves face climbing, layback, and some thin slabs moves as well. The climb can seem a bit runout at times, but there are three bolts in addition to the two bolted belays. There is also solid protection available for most of the route.
