Las Terrenas has changed — and in this video, we’re back in 2026 to see what’s new, what’s different, and whether this popular beach town in the Dominican Republic is still worth visiting. We start things off in the main part of Las Terrenas, where the long-awaited new bridge is finally finished after many years of construction. From there, we walk through Pueblo de los Pescadores, an area that famously burned down years ago and has now been completely rebuilt. Restaurants and shops are starting to move back in, and it’s interesting to see how the area feels today. Next, we explore the cruise ship shopping area at Puerto Plaza Hotel & Shops to see what’s new and how the area feels today. Later, we hop on our quad bike (because driving a four-wheeler around Las Terrenas is STILL fun 😄) and head toward Playa Ballenas. The beach is absolutely stunning, and while walking along the shore we stumble upon a brand-new Marriott Autograph Collection hotel — Donoma. We manage to walk around a bit and check out the absolutely beautiful grounds, which are seriously impressive. The next day, we grab breakfast at one of our longtime favourites, Gigi & Jo, before jumping back on the quad and heading to a quieter stretch of beach between Playa Popy and Portillo. On this day, we basically have the beach to ourselves — calm water, soft sand, and perfect weather. We wrap things up at one of the new happy hour spots in town, Onnos which has a great vibe, good food, and drinks right on the beach — a really fun addition to Las Terrenas.
