I TOOK It All || A Sewist’s LIFETIME Vintage Fabric Stash Amid Joann’s Bankruptcy (Estate Sale Haul)

I cleared out 36 boxes of vintage fabric and sewing notions from an estate sale. Thirty-six. 270 zippers, stacks of polyester, cotton, vintage, upholstery yardage—old-tags from Kmart, Winn’s, and JCPenney. It took three car hauls to get it all home and two more to donate most of it to Austin Creative Reuse, an incredible nonprofit here in Austin that keeps usable materials out of landfills and in the hands of makers, teachers, artists, and weirdos like me. Especially in these Joann bankruptcy times, fabric is going to become a precious commodity. I am grateful for the opportunity to have served as the custodian to this sewist stash and share it with others. Which was your favorite fabric? Did you see anything you recognized?
